THE ORIGIN OF ORIGEN

Founded by Alvaro Rosales Machado and Casandra Escamilla Frutos, ORIGEN is a traditional Mexican restaurant in Bali that transports guests to the heart of ancient Mesoamerica. Executive Chef Alejandro Urbina Andrade, who hails from the vibrant markets and seaside charm of Veracruz, brings generations-old recipes and techniques to life, creating an authentic menu that reflects the rich culinary heritage of Mexico. Working closely with local Balinese producers, Chef Alejandro crafts dishes that blend Mexican tradition with Bali’s freshest ingredients. From street food favourites to slow-cooked recipes passed down from Grandma's kitchen, ORIGEN offers a true taste of Mexico. The experience is enhanced by warm interiors, traditional furnishings, and the largest selection of Mezcal varieties in Bali. At ORIGEN, every visit is a journey through the flavours, history and spirit of Mexico, all while embracing the unique connection between Mexican and Balinese cultures.
